How to Self-Care While Staying at Home

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, our world has dramatically changed in just a few weeks. We have had to be creative in keeping things together while we shelter in place, maintain social distance, work from home, and hoard toilet paper. Just kidding about the last one! Sharing is caring, especially in a time like now. We’re here to share some ideas of things to do while staying at home.

Stay Connected and Get Creative

In a time like this, staying connected is more crucial than ever. Thankfully with today’s technology there are variety of ways to stay connected via video calls / conferencing. Host a dinner party via video conferencing and catch up on the latest from the week. Catch up with that friend you’ve been meaning to reconnect with and schedule a virtual coffee date or wine night. With the surge online group conferencing, you can stay connected via Netflix Party, Twitch, Discord, Zoom, or any flavor of group chatting in between, get creative and throw out some invites. Why not a Netflix-and-mask watch party? TikTok that 10-step routine and become internet-famous. Join a Discord server and obsess with other ARMY how BTS achieve their poreless flawlessness.

Catch up on Some Reading

Since you’re reading a skin care blog, I assume you know a little something about using your skin care routine as more than a mere cleaning ritual, but as a calming, de-stressing, and restorative practice. If you don’t, poke around this blog for suggestions and guidelines on how to assess your skin type, issues, different kinds of products and ingredients, and how to put them all together for a customized skin care experience. Now that you’re at home all day, catch up on a good read on your reading list. Get creative and start a book club with friends and host a weekly meeting via video conferencing. We love The Little Book of Skincare by Charlotte Cho. What good reads have you been reading or been dying to open up?

Get Your Body Moving

If you’re able, try to get some fresh air and talk a stroll outside for 15-20 minutes – while maintaining the 6ft social distancing rule of course! If you are staying inside, that doesn’t mean you can’t get a workout in. Check out your local fitness studio’s website/social media to see if they are live-streaming classes so you can still get your weekly workout routine in while at home. Here are some of our favorite channels for at home fitness: Yoga with Adriene, The Fitness Marshall, Blogilaties.

Don’t Forget to Self-Care

When you can’t go to the spa, bring it the spa home. Use your favorite mask to pamper yourself and de-stress from a long work week. Give your skin some extra love when you’re doing your skincare routine at night. Treat your skin to a nourishing mask sheet for a burst of hydration and care. If you are pinched on time, try a sleeping mask like our Royal Honey Propolis Enrich Sleeping Pack for an overnight treatment of nourishing moisture and skin barrier repair.

Hope you are all staying healthy and safe. You can read our update here: Update from SKINFOOD.
